What is West Coast Swing?

WCS is a lead-follow partner dance that is danced in a linear slot, it is not a circular or progressive dance. Typically, it is danced to 4/4 beat music. Every pattern ends with an anchor where the lead and follow stretch away from each other. This stretch gives the dance an elastic, smooth look. Below are current examples of West Coast Swing by some of the highest level dancers in the dance.

Tuesday Nights:

Rogue Valley Dance

6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Beginner Lesson -$10 drop-in

7:30 - 9:15 p.m Open dancing - $8

Wednesday Nights:

Candela Dance Studio

329 NE 6th St, in Grants Pass

5:30 to 6:15 p.m. - Beginning West Coast Swing / 4-week series $50 per person

6:30 to 7:30 p.m. - Intermediate West Coast Swing / $50 for a 4-class card or $15 drop-in / Prerequisite: Beginning WCS

7:30 to 8:30 p.m. - West Coast Swing Dance Party! / $5 or free with a class

8:30 to 9:30 p.m. - WCS Dancers' Practica ($5 or free with class or social)

PLEASE NOTE: No Intermediate class or social on the 4TH WEDNESDAY - Join us those days for West Coast Swing at the Laughing Clam, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.!

Wednesday Nights:

The Annex

5:00 pm - LEVEL 1+ Lindy Hop

5:45 pm - LEVEL 2+ West Coast Swing Fusion (+Tango, Blues, Single Swing + Salsa)

6:30 pm - LEVEL 3 West Coast Swing

7:15 pm - LEVEL 1 West Coast Swing Basics + Foundations *Best class for beginners*

8:00 pm - LEVEL 2 West Coast Swing

Note: Level 2 and 3 have prerequisite classes or level up with an “audition” for dancers with previous experience (see website for more details)
